Research Interests

 

The research group is a group that brings together health professionals and academics interested in the field of aging and disability. The group consists of eight researchers (one biologist, one neurologist, five psychologists, one psychiatrist), of which six are for the Institute of Health Care Girona (IAS) / IdIBGi and the other two belong to the University of Barcelona and the University Girona respectively. The group carries out research activities in the field of normal and pathological aging, disability and dependence.

One of the activities is the ReDeGi (Girona Dementia Registry), funded by CatSalut and directed and coordinated by professionals in the IAS.

The research group has increased gradually and interests in the field of disability and care for relatives with dementia facilitated contact with researchers to promote joint synergies. On the one hand the University of Girona research on disability associated with fibromyalgia and on the other hand, the University of Barcelona from the common interest of the quality of life of caregivers of overweight patients dementia. Since late 2008, the group built this new building have been gradually increased their connection and joint activity. So Dr. Conde-Sala promoted an agreement between the University of Barcelona and the IAS to facilitate their collaboration with the group of the IAS (now the agreement is valid for the period 2012 to 2014 and is renewable). In 2011 he joined another group member to support the development of the project MESGI50 associated with the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe, which has been fully incorporated in the different research group.
